The gals at Blended Blog Conference invited me to host a hands on craft workshop a couple weeks ago and I had a blast doing it! After all, blogging and crafting are my two of my most favorite things to talk about. Because it was a room full of bloggers with all different levels of craftiness, I decided to share how to make fabric mouse pads. Super easy and perfect for bloggers, right? My friends over at Fat Quarter Shop sent the most gorgeous fabric (the 10 x 10 layer cakes are the perfect size for this project) and supplies to help us out. The hardest part about this project was deciding on which fabric to use. Just in case you want to get in on the fabric mouse pad making too, check out my tutorial below. These mouse pads would make great gifts for Father’s Day, Mother’s Day or even Christmas for your co-workers!

Materials

Cork Trivet
Fabric
Fabric Pen
Fabric Scissors
Mod Podge
Sponge Brush

Instructions: Place the cork trivet on top of the fabric. Trace around the trivet onto the fabric, using a fabric pen. Cut out the circle using fabric scissors to prevent the fabric from fraying. Brush a coat of Mod Podge over one side of the cork trivet and lay the fabric circle on top. Brush another coat of Mod Podge on top of the fabric, smoothing down any excess fabric around the edges with your brush or fingers. Allow to dry and enjoy your new mouse pad!

Thank you to Fat Quarter Shop for sponsoring this workshop and thank you to Blended for having me! Check out Amelia’s Pink & Yellow Nursery and the hoop art I created, using fabric from Fat Quarter Shop.
